Design Studio 2 - Project 3

For our third and final project for Design Studio module, we were tasked to design a retreat house for our client of choice, which was the same one carried over from the previous project. We were given a limit of 150m squared area to construct our house. This project was an individual one.

My theme for this project was the idea of 'experience'. As a writer, I felt Ian Fleming would benefit from a house that emphasize on experiencing his site and the building itself. It was also through my personal belief that a retreat house in a beach area wouldn't make sense if the occupant were to be constantly in his home.

This was my design

I wanted to go for a more streamline look as I felt it fit the aesthetic of James Bond. My design was also based on Skyfall and Daniel Craig's pose in the poster.

This project has taught me the importance of planning and timing in terms of designing. It has also taught me to sketch out most of my work rather than draw it out, because when you're at the stage of designing, drawing it out is more time consuming and can hinder your progress.
